how durable are racquets?
yes tennis season is coming up and i wanted to play so bad...
i am a 2 hand backhand player and i was wondering how to do a one hand backhand in my house. i swung my k95 in my room and hit a metal bar. for a second i thought i cracked my frame, but when i looked, i didnt see any apparent damages. do you think i might have cracked the inside a little bit?
from my chemistry knowledge, graphite is really hard to break and if it breaks, it will break completely.
i dont want to spend another $200 on a racquet, but if i do...i guess ill demo and try out some other very tempting racquets...
If there's no obvious damage, you should be fine. And yes, graphite will be very obvious when it breaks. I've seen it many times before.
The racquets are really made to withstand a lot of abuse. If hitting the ball as hard as the pros do doesn't break the racquet, it should be able to handle a metal bar.
I've even seen their durability from my own experiences. I hit a first serve, and really went for it. For some reason, I accidentally let go of the racquet after hitting the ball. It went straight down onto the court and hit at the top of the head. The thing bounced up pretty high, and I thought is was doomed. I picked it up, and it was perfectly fine. The racquet was probably 3 years old at the time, and I still use it 4 years after that incident.
If you're still concerned about it, have the stringer look at it next time you get it strung. They should be able to spot any damage that we would overlook.
